Artist's Comments

Hand drawn and then digitally rendered on Photoshop. Drawn for the DBH Design for Incubus contest.

The original ideas were actually depictions of koi, lotuses and scrolling patterns. Others ideas were much shorter on insight. Nailing the feel of the band was incredibly difficult. They had too many styles.

I have finally settled for Winged Scarabs. They were thought to be guardians of the dead to be reincarnated into the next life. It was also a symbol of the God of Ra, the sun god. I thought it was perfectly apt to bring it back to life for one reason. I frankly. dislike. the new albums. I mean the two after Crow Left of the Murder left me in tears. Drawing this is my homage to their greatness and at the same time, its a silent prayer for them to be renewed or to remember how they started.
